Hi Guys
Cheerleading is an amazing sport, anyone who has partaken in it knows the delight you feel performing with your best friends and achieving skills you couldn’t dream possible. Being on a Cheerleading squad is a big commitment and without proper organisation, makes life very stressful especially when it comes to school.
Number one: Career comes first even before Cheer
CFHTT love this sport more than anything, but education always come first. While doing this sport do not forget your careers goals. Where do you want to be in five years and what will it take to get there? The last thing you want to do is look back and think you wish you’d paid more attention or you wish you’d taken your degree more seriously.

Number two: Organisation is key
Cheerleading is a very time consuming sport if you are not training, you’re at competition, going to extra practices and then there is all the travel.
Time management is very important if you want to have a balanced life. Look at your calendar and work out when you have free time and go and study
CFHTT would suggest getting a diary and scheduling all your commitments so you can prioritise them so you don’t waste time. Use your weekend wisely, the weekend is so precious to us all. Make sure you’re fully rested but don’t sleep the day away. This is crucial to achieving a Cheer and life balance.

Number three: “Carpe Diem”
You need to seize the moment do the hard work now so you don’t have to stress later. It definitely pays off!
Rid all major distractions like your mobile and social networks when you go to do your homework. Give your homework your full attention. It is almost impossible to achieve when someone is tweeting you, sending Facebook notifications, texts, phoning or emailing you.
Here is a study tip we find most useful
POWER HOUR
All you do is, focus on your work for one hour but in this hour your must have no distraction. Your phone must be off, all social media account must be logged out of so you are completely focused on your task. You will be surprised how much work you can get done in a hour when you buckle down and focus.)

Number four: Sacrifices have to be made
You can’t do everything, you must choose what you want to do, don’t let people sway your decision. What we mean by this is when it is lunch time you could work on your homework. That doesn’t mean neglecting your mates all lunchtime, but dedicating a bit of time at lunch to your studies is better than leaving it all to the last minute and having to panic and cram. Dedication to this sport will be at times challenging but believe me when we say the rewards are AMAZING!

Number five: Get your friends on your side
Explain your situation to you friends and avoid a lot of “just come and hang out with us” or” don’t be boring.” Explain to your friends “I love cheerleading it’s something that makes me happy and I would really appreciate your support and understanding.” It will make your life so much easier because they can see your life from your point of view
Now go and have a successful Cheer and Life balance.
