Hey guys

What are you going to do after you graduate??????

So you’re at university, loving the cheer life and can’t imagine life without your cheer family but.

In the back of your mind you’re fully aware that your university life meaning you’re cheer life is coming to an end and fast.

You have two choices you can either ignore this situation or be the true athlete you are and handle this situation straight on

Here’s my advice for what to do after you graduate

What do u want  from a cheer team: Are you looking to improve your tumbling and stunting or do you like the standard you cheer at now.
Location: where will you be living and are u prepared to travel to be on better squad if there is not one close to you that suits your needs ??
Where are the best places to look for a new squad: The best place to look for new cheer squad is cheer organisations like Future cheer , Bca, Jamfest euro and Icc  I have put a list below of contact details I could find for these organisations.

Cheer forums are also good ukcheer.co this is a  site where you can post questions and people will reply or speak to your current squad and see if anyone knows any graduates who cheer and contact then and see what their advice is for cheer after university.

Do you have the money to afford to cheer after university:  to be on a privately run cheer programme are expensive, you will have to paid for a new uniform ,practice and maybe even spring floor practices and travel to and from competition. You may have to make sacrifices, I know I do but it’s worth It

What is your current skill set:                                                                                                                                                                                         Work out what you’re skills are and try match that to squad you’re trying out for. You don’t want to go to unity black when all you have is  a cartwheel and level 2 stunts so research the team you’re trying out for  but At the same time. If you’re on level two and want to be on level three go to the try-out and make sure your know what skills are required and most squads have pre-season training where you can learn higher level skills you need and familiarise  yourself with the team
Coed or all girl : I have only been on a coed team at university for one year and the one thing I didn’t like about it was all the hard stunts the boys on our squad got to do which always annoyed me because as a girl we were never considered but I did love the banter the boys had. This is probably a bad reflection on coed teams because I have friends who couldn’t imagine not being on a coed team.

All girl, now I’m on all girl and love getting push to the limit. I love when we hit hard stunts and know that it’s all women power lololololol

Commitment:  Being on a university you will be fully aware that if one person isn’t there it lets down the whole team. Being at university you have a lot more free time and days off so you should take that into account when joining a squad after university. Subsequently after university you will have full time job, social life and have cheer training on top of that so be prepared to have a busy schedule.

Hope this has help you continue your cheer journey
